The 20th edition of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship will take place in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima and Phuket in August and September 2025. Thirty-two teams are competing for the prestigious title over 88 matches with the final being played in Bangkok before thousands of spectators.
The 32 teams include the hosts from Thailand and current world champions Serbia as well as the top three teams from each continent – Africa, Asia, Europe, North and Central America and South America - plus the remaining teams from the world’s top 30 rankings.

Volleyball has become increasingly popular in Thailand in recent years, in part due to the success of the women’s national team, and FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship Thailand 2025 is bound to attract a large number of spectators. Two hundred thousand people are expected to watch the matches with more than 10,000 people expected to attend Thailand’s games.
It is estimated that there are more than 21.1 million volleyball fans in Thailand. Volleyball is considered one of the most popular sports in the world, and a frontrunner when it comes to gender equality and accessibility.
In the pool phase, the 32 teams spread across eight pools of four teams playing in a round robin system. The top two teams from each pool then advance to the direct elimination phase. In the direct elimination phase, there will be four knock-out rounds: round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, third place play-off and the final. Players will also be competing for individual awards such as the Most Valuable Player, Best Setter, Best Outside Spikers, Best Opposite Spiker, Best Middle Blockers and Best Libero.
